About Trek

The Spiti Valley Tour from Delhi is one of the most unforgettable road journeys in the Indian Himalayas. Known as the “Cold Desert of India,” Spiti is a remote and breathtaking region in Himachal Pradesh that offers a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and raw natural beauty. This 9 Days / 8 Nights Spiti Valley itinerary by Himalayan Advent takes you deep into high-altitude mountains, ancient monasteries, traditional villages, and landscapes that look completely untouched by time.

Your journey begins from Delhi and gradually transitions from the busy plains into the peaceful hills of Himachal Pradesh. As you travel through Shimla, Kinnaur, and finally Spiti Valley, the scenery changes dramatically. Lush green valley’s slowly give way to rugged mountains, deep gorges, and barren cold deserts. Every day of the journey feels different, making the entire road trip exciting and visually rich.

One of the most special parts of this tour is the route itself. You travel through some of the most beautiful Himalayan destinations like Chitkul – the last village of India, Sangla Valley, Kalpa with views of Kinner Kailash, and the ancient village of Nako. These places not only offer scenic beauty but also give you a glimpse into local Himalayan life, culture, and traditions that have remained unchanged for centuries.

As you enter Spiti Valley via Khab, the landscape becomes more dramatic and rawer. The region is famous for its high-altitude villages, Buddhist monasteries, and extreme terrain. Places like Tabo Monastery (over 1000 years old), Dhankar Monastery perched on a cliff, and Gue Monastery with the mummy monk add a spiritual and historical depth to your journey. These monasteries are not just tourist spots but living symbols of Tibetan Buddhism and Himalayan culture.

The base town of Kaza becomes your main stay in Spiti Valley. From here, you explore iconic villages like Hikkim (world’s highest post office), Komik (highest motorable village), and Langza (famous for fossils and giant Buddha statue). Each village offers something unique, from ancient traditions to surreal landscapes that feel like another planet.

Another highlight of this journey is Chandratal Lake, also known as the Moon Lake. Surrounded by snow-covered peaks and wide-open landscapes, this crystal-clear lake is one of the most beautiful spots in Himachal Pradesh. Camping near Chandratal under a sky full of stars is an experience that stays with travelers forever.

The tour also includes a scenic return journey via Atal Tunnel, which connects Spiti to Manali. This route offers a striking contrast as you move from the cold desert of Spiti to the lush green valleys of Manali within a few hours. The transition itself feels magical and completes the Himalayan experience beautifully.

The Spiti Valley Tour from Delhi is not just a trip; it is a journey of transformation. It teaches your patience on long mountain roads, offers silence away from city life, and connects you with nature in its purest form. The altitude, the remoteness, and the simplicity of life here make it a truly unique destination.

At Himalayan Advent, we ensure that your journey is safe, well-planned, and comfortable. With experienced trip leaders, carefully designed itineraries, and proper acclimatization, we make sure you enjoy Spiti without stress and fully immerse yourself in its beauty.

If you are someone who loves mountains, adventure, photography, or just wants to disconnect from the chaos of city life, the Spiti Valley Tour is a perfect choice. It is not just about visiting places—it is about experiencing a completely different world above the clouds.

Best Time to Visit Spiti Valley

The best time to visit Spiti Valley is from May to October, when the region is accessible and weather conditions are suitable for travel. During this period, the snow starts melting, roads open up, and the entire valley becomes reachable via the Shimla–Kinnaur route.

Spiti remains cut off from the rest of the country during winter due to heavy snowfall, so this short summer window is the only proper time to explore the valley comfortably.

May to June

This is the beginning of the Spiti travel season.

Snow starts melting in higher regions

Roads via Shimla–Kinnaur route gradually open

Weather is cold but manageable

Fewer tourists, peaceful atmosphere

This is a good time for those who want to experience Spiti in a raw and less crowded form.

July to August (Peak Summer Season)

This is considered the best and most popular time to visit Spiti Valley.

Pleasant daytime temperatures

Clear skies and excellent visibility

All major routes and villages fully accessible

Ideal for sightseeing and photography

Although it is monsoon season in most parts of India, Spiti remains mostly dry due to its rain-shadow location, making it perfect for travel.

September to Mid-October (Best Photography Season)

This is one of the most beautiful times in Spiti.

Crisp blue skies and golden landscapes

Less crowd compared to peak months

Slightly colder nights

Stunning views of mountains and valleys

This season is especially popular among photographers and peace seekers.

After Mid-October (Winter Starts)

Temperature drops sharply

Heavy snowfall begins

Road’s start closing gradually

Valley becomes inaccessible from winter months

Spiti remains closed for regular tourism until the next summer season.

Our Recommendation

At Himalayan Advent, we recommend visiting Spiti Valley between June and September for the best balance of weather, road conditions, and overall experience. However, if you want vibrant landscapes and comfortable travel, July to September is the ideal window.
